Death Sentence

Ok so this blog isnt about a current event but i made this blog so i might as well take full advantage of it. Last night i watched Kevin Bacon's movie Death Sentence (yes he finally made a new movie) I started this movie knowing pretty much what this movie was about or atleast the main thing it was about. I'm not going to lie this movie hit close to home. I rented it thinking action movie but was shocked when it came to be more drama in it. This movie is about him loosing his son to a random gang initiation killing. Having lost my little brother to a freak skiing accident when he was ten i subjected myself to what was to come by watching this movie. But in my defense i was thinking it was a movie like the punisher where it focused more on the action than the effects of the death of his son. I WAS WRONG. I spent most the movie in tension and pain for him and his family. I'll probably spoil the movie for you so if you are interested in seeing it stop reading now......................................................................................................so after his sons murder Kevin Bacon realizes his killer deserves a death sentence rather than the 3 to 4 years he would recieve. At this point Kevin Bacon refuses to testify as the eye witness and they let him walk. Of course he gets his revenge on the killer and this triggers the gangs uprising. They come after Kevin Bacon and the rest of his family thats alive (wife and other son). Somehow Kevin Bacon puts up a good fight in defending himself but the gang eventually gets his wife and son. Kevin's character is one lucky guy he survives being shot and his wife dies. His youngest son is not responding and on life support. Seeing this Kevin escapes the hospital and pulls out all college savings and savings to purchase guns. As he goes back for his revenge and is tears through the gang until he gets to the leader (billy) its a shootout in a church. They both are injured bad and presumed out of bullets. This is when the gang leader and the grief strucken father end up on a pew bleedingout their injuries. Billy (the gang leader) takes a look at Kevin Bacon (who was shaved his head due to previous head injuries and is in street clothes and the blood on his face looks like tattoos) He then says to Kevin...."look at you, you look like one of us"....."look what ive turned you into." WOW those words are so true today. Look at all the things that influence us like revenge and grief turn us into. Those words have stuck with me all day...what am i letting influence me and what is it turning me into? I mean im not a hardened gangster in my case im thinking on a smaller scale and referring to what kind of man is it making me. Just something to think about sry its so long just really felt like getting this one out.

ps yes kevin bacon blows the guys head off and his youngest son ends up making it but i believe Kevin Bacon dies sitting on his couch bleeding out and watching family videos. Not a feel good movie lol...i suggest Horton Hears A Hoo....yes i do like cartoons with adult insinuations that little kids wont get...kinda like space chimps.
