WILL THE REAL MEN PLEASE STAND UP!

http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa/latestnews/stories/wfaa090223_wz_murdersuicide.44660a9f.html

I wanted to touch on this one (i know it seems im all about murder but this one is personal)
My mom teaches at Williams Middle School in Rockwall. She had this student Justin in her class and when she got this news it broke her. It's hard for my family to take news of death, but more so with young kids due to us loosing my little brother. My mom informed me that this boy was found at elm park murder and his father dead next to him. Police have classified it as a murder suicide due to the suicide note the father left. So to break down this story the father apparently shot his son and then himself. Now hearing this story i couldnt help but think what was the son thinking i mean really what was going on and why the hell would you murder a 13 year old boy or better yet YOUR OWN SON. It was very sickening and i wanted the dad to live so maybe someone could get a hold of him and torture the crap out of him. But thats just anger speaking...as i read more into the story police say the father murdered his son for fear that the son was going to prison...police didnt release the charges that he thought hed be going to jail for but come on. Can we please be the dad that we hear about/man that people talk great about...THE MEN THAT WALK TALL? Where was the lesson that you teach your son accept responsibility for your own actions? He was 13 he had time to learn he had things he could have done and should have done, and what about the younger brother left behind with the stepmom? I mean his dad just taught him a lesson of when things get tough bail out or even bail someone out...and not in a good way in a cheap way. Can we as men start to walk tall. I dont know maybe its because i was raised southern and had my dad and uncles and grandpa to lead examples of what a real man is. That just leaves me stounded, even the guys that leave their wives or girlfriends because of a pregnancy or too much responsibility....SUCK IT UP its life you did it now you stick with it...CAN THE REAL MEN PLEASE STAND UP?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090224/ap_on_re_us/pregnant_woman_killed

This story is so sickening its ridiculous (better vaughn..lol)
This 11 year old boy took a shot gun and covered it with a blanket and went downstairs and shot his dads pregnant girlfriend. First of all WTF is this kid doing with a shot gun...has this dad not heard of a gun safe and how the hell does this kid know to cover the gun with a blanket, and did he really think no one would hear the gun shot. What leads an ELEVEN year old boy to do this. What is going on in this world. I mean maybe the girlfriend wasnt that great of a parental figure but killing someone. Ive always strongly disagreed with parents when they say video games are too violent for our youth, but is this the case could this really be? As Americans we need to stop hitting the rules and start hitting the knees and praying cause this world is so far past our own help we need something of a greater power. Even though this was forseen in the Bible things need to change atleast to better protect the innocent and youth more.

Guantanamo Bay Prison

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090223/us_nm/us_guantanamo_review

This article was interesting to read. Mainly because Hollywood has turned prisons with big names (like Guantanamo Bay) into a sort of hell hole. President OBama order a 13 day inspection on the prison and it met the Geneva Conventions standards. The prison has had report in the past (during its 70 years of operation) of inhumane treatment. The team of inspectors however were not there to grade them on the past but of the present.

This article makes you wonder if they were tipped off of the inspection and cleaned up their act for 13 days. I mean its a prison and im sure gaurds have some sort of grudge and there is a certain amount of force that has to be kept to keep things in line. Guantanamo Bay is a prison mainly for foreign threats or as we say terrorist. There are prisoners in prison with ties to the taliban or al queda so it makes you wonder if after september 11th if gaurds are taken out anger on the prisoners. As a man i can admit it would be hard for me not to "punish" these prisoners even if they didnt do anything wrong while in this prison. But as a human being i think my raising and teachings would keep me from doing this but how many of these gaurds think like this and how many have that "macho man" attitude. I mean come on we have all seen Harold and Kumar go to Guantanamo Bay. This just makes you think whats really going on and its pretty much an unanswerable question until youve been there in prison. Kind of like Area 51 haha is it real or a myth and if it is real whats there. God I WANT TO KNOW.

SMU football

9 players for the SMU Mustangs football team have lost their scholarships and wont be returning next season to the school nor the team. The only released statements made was that they failed to adhere to the teams rules and expectations. What happened to the days when you just did your part and took advantage of what blessings you were given. My dad graduated a bluechip in football, pretty much picked the colelge he wanted to attend and his stories of the coaches were out of this world. Ear hole checks were one of the many things they did which was where the coaches walked around during practice and stuck their finger in your ear hole and if they felt hair you had you had a rigorous workout that day. Something so small as no drugs or curfew on game nights seem rediculously easy to upkeep compared to wanting to fit in the style of the seventies and have your shaggy hair. Theres so many rules put on coaches now its just a bit rediculous. I mean if you had a coach like the coach from Varsity Blues then thats crossing the line but for the majority texas football has maintained a good stature of respect for their training in young men. I just dont understand why some people cant keep with the rules when you are being given a full ride scholarship. I'd do pretty much anything to get a full ride scholarship and i would also do anything to keep it

Death Sentence

Ok so this blog isnt about a current event but i made this blog so i might as well take full advantage of it. Last night i watched Kevin Bacon's movie Death Sentence (yes he finally made a new movie) I started this movie knowing pretty much what this movie was about or atleast the main thing it was about. I'm not going to lie this movie hit close to home. I rented it thinking action movie but was shocked when it came to be more drama in it. This movie is about him loosing his son to a random gang initiation killing. Having lost my little brother to a freak skiing accident when he was ten i subjected myself to what was to come by watching this movie. But in my defense i was thinking it was a movie like the punisher where it focused more on the action than the effects of the death of his son. I WAS WRONG. I spent most the movie in tension and pain for him and his family. I'll probably spoil the movie for you so if you are interested in seeing it stop reading now......................................................................................................so after his sons murder Kevin Bacon realizes his killer deserves a death sentence rather than the 3 to 4 years he would recieve. At this point Kevin Bacon refuses to testify as the eye witness and they let him walk. Of course he gets his revenge on the killer and this triggers the gangs uprising. They come after Kevin Bacon and the rest of his family thats alive (wife and other son). Somehow Kevin Bacon puts up a good fight in defending himself but the gang eventually gets his wife and son. Kevin's character is one lucky guy he survives being shot and his wife dies. His youngest son is not responding and on life support. Seeing this Kevin escapes the hospital and pulls out all college savings and savings to purchase guns. As he goes back for his revenge and is tears through the gang until he gets to the leader (billy) its a shootout in a church. They both are injured bad and presumed out of bullets. This is when the gang leader and the grief strucken father end up on a pew bleedingout their injuries. Billy (the gang leader) takes a look at Kevin Bacon (who was shaved his head due to previous head injuries and is in street clothes and the blood on his face looks like tattoos) He then says to Kevin...."look at you, you look like one of us"....."look what ive turned you into." WOW those words are so true today. Look at all the things that influence us like revenge and grief turn us into. Those words have stuck with me all day...what am i letting influence me and what is it turning me into? I mean im not a hardened gangster in my case im thinking on a smaller scale and referring to what kind of man is it making me. Just something to think about sry its so long just really felt like getting this one out.

ps yes kevin bacon blows the guys head off and his youngest son ends up making it but i believe Kevin Bacon dies sitting on his couch bleeding out and watching family videos. Not a feel good movie lol...i suggest Horton Hears A Hoo....yes i do like cartoons with adult insinuations that little kids wont get...kinda like space chimps.

a-rod

Well what do you know...another pro athelete admits to steroids. This whole issue with drugs and sports is wrong but it also is smashing our heroes. I mean A-Rod is rediculously sick at baseball and can back his games up...but how much of that backing up was possible with out his drugs. I mean he was really good before he admittedly used steroids in 2001 but still '01 to '03 are the years that he made the most money and skyrocketed with his career. I do like the fact that he admits to his mistakes and admits to being young and stupid and didnt end up like a favorite player of mine Ken Caminitti and died. These things like drugs and enhancements and even instant replay are ruining sports today. I mean how in the world did these sports exist back in the day?

9 year old prodigy

So there's this 9 year old kid from Singapore who has taken his I-Phone and has changed the programming in it to create his own application. It's called doodle kids where ur fingers can sketch on the screen. He created this program for his younger sisters who love to draw. His applications already have 4000 downloads. WOW! He's fluent in six different programming languages. All i can say is Americans are so lazy. Obviously our baby einstein videos aren't working as well as other places. Think about it the technology that comes from other countries is rediculous, and all we can come up with is more drive thru's and fast food chains. Ive got nothing on this kid by 9 years of age i think i had only learned how to play baseball and other sports, and look how far that got me. Americans need to get off the couch and get some priorities straight. Don't get me wrong i love america and the people here we just need to find a fair medium.
